Whem AR Mission planed it's project in Sri Lanka the first concern was to find a proper hospitalization and boarding facilities for the dogs and puppies will be rescued . We visited this shelter+hospital and found out that it is up to our requirements. It situated in an interior area and it's a newly constructed building where we can accommodate 20+ adult dogs and 30+ puppies and they built a small cat shelter as well upon our request for the 10 cats we already rescued . We are expecting to expand the cat home in the near future to be able to help more rescued cats in need of a permanent home or treatments.
Currently we have 12 rescued dogs with us including 02 permanently disabled dogs.
There is a nice garden area where the dogs can spend their time freely playing with each other resting under the sun enjoying the breeze.
And there is a small house attached to the shelter with 2 bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, an attached bathroom and a nice living room .
Currently there are two permanent staff members working at the hospital who have more than 10 years working experience working as veterinary assistants.
They have been trained under well experienced veterinary doctors about wound management and after care as well as physiotherapy.
The staff is very kind and gentle with the animals and they are familiar with each animal and their situation.
The people who live in the village where the hospital is situated are not so rich and they don't have easily accessible veterinary facilities .
So we are conducting a monthly "free medical camp" as well at the hospital for the villagers so they can bring their pets and the community dogs and Cats in the area to get them treated, sterilized and vaccinated for free of charge.
Apart from that we are planing to conduct a monthly feeding program for the homeless animals in the area too. Our target is to feed around 50 Dogs and Cats.
